Meet The Panelists
Joshua Deeks
Josh has devoted almost his entire career to Compliance, Risk Management and Financial Crime Prevention. Over the past two years he gained experience in building banks up from scratch and helped Fintechs to expand into new markets. During that time he has always worked in full partnership with the commercial strategy to ensure that not only business success is guaranteed, but also that the compliance strategy in driving the business.
Josh has helped to build and successfully launch a challenger bank in October 2019. Since November 2019, Josh has been in charge of financial crime prevention for the UK market of N26 as well as performing additional duties across the organisation to support their global expansion. Joshua has an exceptionally high performing track record having performed 'head of' duties for over half a decade, including temporarily holding SMF16 and SMF17.
Josh has spent time working at financial services firms established over 200 years ago where the culture was dedicated to first class customer service. More recently, Josh moved into the Fintech space to share his time-honed expertise with those looking to do things in a new way. As a consultant, Josh supports Entrepreneurs, Fintechs and Crypto Startups throughout Europe with Strategy, Compliance, Risk Management and Financial Crime services to help them navigate through the different regulatory and FinCrime landscape and ensure long-term success. He combines his deeply technical knowledge with his love for tech and business innovation to embody the modern age compliance officer
Elaine Deehan
Elaine Deehan is Country Manager of Ireland for Starling International.
After a career in traditional institutions such as Citi and AIB, Elaine had the opportunity to dive into the startup and fintech world. In 2015, she joined CurrencyFair, the world’s first online peer to peer, foreign exchange provider, before founding pocketwire, a mobile youth bank account.
In 2019, Elaine was delighted to accept the opportunity to lead Starling’s ambitions to enter the Irish market offering its award-winning personal and current accounts to Irish consumers and small businesses.

Izhar Arieli is a serial entrepreneur and a Fintech professional. Arieli served as CEO and co-founder in different companies, built a world-renowned product authorized in over a dozen regulatory territories, created an esteemed partner network and set best practices around the world for financial institutions.
